We offer a variety of preventative care services such as annual physical exams and maintenance treatments for musculoskeletal conditions.
We offer diagnosis and treatment for many acute musculoskeletal symptoms such as lower back pain, sciatica, migraines, neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis and golfers elbow, and many more.
You can rely on us to treat your chronic musculoskeletal needs such as joint degeneration (wear and tear), digestive problems, cancer massage and many biomechanical aspects.
Osteopathic treatment involves the use of a wide range of non-invasive manual techniques. Some are gentle, craniosacral, whilst others include physical manipulation of joints, soft-deep tissue massage, stretching and exercise rehabilitation. Through these techniques, your osteopath aims to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension and increase blood flow enabling the body to heal.
During your consultation, your Osteopath will compile a detailed medical report in order to correctly diagnose and subsequently propose a treatment plan.
The medical report will need to include your medical history, details about your general health and lifestyle as these may be contributing to your current condition and also influence the treatment that you receive.
Finally you may be required to undress down to your underclothes, so that your Osteopath can assess your range of movement and carry out the treatment. If you feel uncomfortable with this then tracksuit bottoms and a tee shirt or other loose fitting clothing would be appropriate.
If necessary we may refer you to have an X-ray or MRI or advise you to visit your GP for blood tests. This may also include a referral to a specialist. We do have a good working relationship with local GPs and Specialists in the hospital which helps towards fast and efficient referrals and we pride ourselves with good communication regarding the problem.
At all follow up appointments we will reassess and evaluate the progress you are making and how things have changed. We will re assess movements and how well you can move, we will discuss how you are feeling.
The Osteopath will then examine you again and adjust the treatment to a mutually agreeable level. This does not mean there will be no discomfort during treatment, however, if something feels wrong or painful please tell your osteopath. It is important that you communicate with your Osteopath any concerns, pains or changes you have or are experiencing during or between visits.
If there is no improvement at all, this needs to be discussed and treatment adjusted and advice on how to move forward. If you have had regular appointments and visited us more than 5-6 times and you are not significantly better, we will reassess our approach and think about secondary referrals. The most important factor in the treatment process is the care of our patients. We strive to personalise our approach to each person visiting our practice. We are all individuals and have the right to be treated as such.
